Alvarez vs Khan

Amir Khan has the “perfect style” to defeat Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez and take his WBC world middleweight title, according to Danny Garcia. Garcia, now a two weight world champion after beating Robert Guerrero to win the vacant WBC welterweight belt in January, infamously knocked out Khan out in the fourth round of their 2012 bout.

And while he feels Canelo’s size and power gives him an obvious advantage, Garcia believes Khan’s superior technical skills could see him shock the champion in Las Vegas on 7 May.

“I think Khan has the perfect style to beat Canelo,” he told Fighthype. “If you’re talking talent, I think Khan is definitely more talented than Canelo. The only thing is, can he sustain Canelo’s attack and power? Can he survive in the later rounds? But I think Khan is going to start good in the fight.

“If he has a strong finish, if he finishes strong, he has a chance to win the fight. He has to be able to take a big punch. But as far as style, I think he’s got a good style to beat Canelo. But we don’t know if he’s physically strong enough.”

At 27, Khan is already a two-time former world champion but believes victory over Canelo will eclipse those achievements and move him onto another level.

“It’s going to be amazing to be called the middleweight world champion and that’s like a dream come true,” Khan told Sky Sports. “Even though I achieved a lot in my amateur days and went to the Olympics and also as a professional becoming a two-weight world champion, I still think winning this fight against such a big name in Canelo, and becoming the middleweight champion, will be bigger than anything I’ve done.”
